Hypothetical scenario: Someone tells you they've been on a plant-based diet for a few months because their partner is vegan. They say they understand the ethical reasons for being vegan and agree with all of them, but don't really feel it in their heart and can't get themselves to care more about the animals. They want to care, though, and ask for advice on how to make the connection. What do you say?

Is it really about caring about animals? I myself don't like animals that much, but recognize their existence and the fact they can suffer. That's more enough a reason for me to not use them.

You cannot make someone make the connection, they have to do that themselves.

Bram Berg's,

Precisely!

For some it may not be about caring or compassion but about being fair and just. What you wouldn't want to do to a human child, you shouldn't want to do to an animal. Simple.
