Lacto vegetarian-Consume no meat or egg but consume dairy
Ovo vegetarian-Consume no meat or dairy but consume egg
Lacto Ovo vegetarian-Consume no meat but consume egg and dairy
Vegetarian-Consume only plants
Vegan-A vegetarian who does not use clothing made of animals, avoid circus, and does not use products tested on animals, and etc. The idea is to reduce animals suffering as much as possible.

well one point is that you did not kill any animal when you ate an egg, so if your goal of vegetarianism is not to kill, then you are okay, but there are other implications that would make egg eating not vegan.

Cruelty does not just go into factory farming as it exist in more areas. Animal cruelty also goes into experimentation, clothing, places that use animals for entertainment, and etc. Although there is no such thing as 100% cruel free, it's always best to try to live as cruel free as possible.
Animals that are experimented on go through side effects that negatively impact their health and sometimes they result in death. Plus, every species are different and bodies work different as well. Therefore, animal testing should not exist. When you go to a store to buy soap, shampoo, deodorant, and etc, make sure it's not tested on animal.
Animals in circus are often caged and force to perform when they really just want to live with their families as they run around in freedom. Humans don't need to abuse animal for their own entertainment as entertainment is a want, not a need.
I may be wrong in this one but animal are skinned alive for fur, leather, and etc. Plus, there is no need to even have clothing made of animals as other options exist in this world.
There are more cruelty that I mentioned.

It's alright. I can't speak for all veg*ns but I'm sure the idea for most veg*ns is to avoid animal cruelty and sometimes it's best to mention as much as you know as to what is horrible for the animals.

if u understand bio then u know that an egg is a result of a fertilization taking place
if fertilization occurs then that means live has begun!!
