Veg*ns! How do you feel about Christians? (Sorry if I offend anyone)

So I have lots of veg*n and I couldn't stop noticing that most of them seem to express a strong hatred of Christians. Lots of them seem to be friendly towards me but it turns out that they only hate when people use God as an excuse to eat animals.

I want a truthful answer here. How do you feel about Christians? Do you feel the same way they do?

I understand what's in the Bible, I don't eat meat for Religious reasons I don't eat it because to me it's a moral issue of my own. It's not the same for everyone, but that's my story.

I seel like everyone has a right to their blessed opinion, and to follow who they want and worship how they want, however being a pagan I treat them with a general warriness.

Wish they had a "like" button for posts. Lets just say they do and i hit that button.

I would simply state that any life style that is "better" than another is going to promote a superior attitude in it's followers.  That being said, it is better to remember that none of us are all knowing and all of us are fallible.  I try not to hate anyone personally and I try (really hard!) to be as accepting of different view points as possible; it is imperative to be respectful and non-derisive of other life paths.

I have a very Christian friend and she tells me that it is okay to eat animals because the bible says they have no soul. I think that is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard. I think everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want but if you are going to preach about being kind and living pure, should you not inflict pain on creatures that feel and breathe as you do? That is the only thing that bothers me about religion and the excuse they use to eat animals.

That animals have no soul is not biblical. The bible does refer to animals having souls. :)

Many Christians (and non Christians) unfortunately do not find the answers out for themselves, they pick up inaccuracies from others or misinterpret.

We are stewards of the earth, NOT higher than other living beings. We are here to take care of them all, NOT eat them, abuse them, torture them or kill them for sports.

I believe in a God who loves ALL of His creation, not just humans. Our abuse of this planet saddens me immensely, and if it saddens me, I can only imagine what it does to Him. :(

Jesus preached mercy and compassion. And this must extend to all.

Further to this, most of my friends are Non Christian (from various other beliefs) and they are not interested in veg*nism. Some of them go as far as to continually ridicule veg*ns on Facebook. I find it therefore a little unfair to be pointing fingers at Christians for eating meat, when there are many others out there doing the same thing.

And lastly, I wasn't always a vegan. I was a believer and I had NEVER thought about what I was eating. It honestly had never crossed my mind. I didn't know that many vegetarians and certainly no vegans, and I didn't give a second thought to why people were vegetarians. I also called myself an animal lover. Then I got pets, who are my children and my eyes started opening to what was going on around me. I was heart broken that I had not seen it earlier. But I immediately made the change. Straight to vegan without looking back.

Don't be so hard on those that are still blind and cannot see the truth. My parents who are in their 60s are only seeing the truth now because I am showing it to them... people around me are starting to take note too. Not everybody can change over night. We have been conditioned that eating meat is ok  and the atrocities have been hidden.

If we want people to change we have to be kind and most of all...patient.

where does the bible mention animals having souls?

Thank you Karen! I see this stuff everyday when I try to talk to vegans! It seems as if Christians take the biggest blame for animal cruelty when there are some who are vegan and fight for what is right. Some Christians twist the meaning of the Bible to what they want to hear. Others understand what it means to extend compassion not only to humans but to animals as well.

Reality is that I'm not a Bible expert, as I'm still learning, but even though some verse mention people eating meat, it doesn't necessarily determine how we should live today. Times were different back then and I don't know their situation completely but today is the day veganism is possible for everyone and I'm sure of that as we can all see it. The Bible strongly supports veg*nism and I can say that with confidence as some verse would be (Romans 14:21, Daniel 1:11-16 or somewhere around there, Proverbs 15:17, Proverbs 13:2, Proverbs 12:20, possibly, and probably more).

Sorry if I got a little carried away.

Wow I wish more christians were like you :o And the other christians here of course :) I especially love how you don't think humans are higher/more important than other animals, that is such a cliche of an attitude, even from non religious people and it really pisses me off. Two things that annoy me the most are christians saying god gave all the animals for humans to use and eat etc and nonchristians spouting bullshit about how humans need to eat meat, it's natural and without it we would've never evolved to be where we are now. Utter rubbish.

Humans, I believe, are naturally herbivorous. The fact that we CAN eat meat doesn't mean we have to or should. We have the teeth, the jaws and the digestive system of herbivores. Besides, there are actual studies that show that eating meat  can be very harmful, especially the amounts modern, western humans eat. It's made all the worse by the fact that those animals are pumped with antibiotics and all kinds of crap ---> not good.

They failed to read Genesis 1:29 (where God's ORIGINAL INTENTION is mentioned). I never found any evidence where God said "Hey Adam and Eve! Here are some cows, chickens, pigs, and all those other animals! They are yours for food!" Nope! I understand that people ate meat after the flood but the flood probably destroyed most plants and that was understandable. Just look at today, there are plenty of fruits and vegetables to go around!

From what I understand, humans have the intelligence to choose with the ability to live as herbivores.

I see no excuse to eat animals. =)

Me neither, but somehow they manage the to pull all kinds of "facts" out of their arse :X :D
