WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Nori sheets
- Avocado (I used avocado hummus)
- White/yellow Miso (Optional)
- White sushi style rice
- 1 cucumber
- 1 tomato
- 1 carrot
- 1 Red bell pepper
- Bean sprouts
1. While your rice is cooking (i use a rice cooker) you can prepare and slice up your veggies. I cut all of mine into thin strips.
2. Once rice is done, carefully spread an even layer of rice onto your nori. It doesn't have to be perfect. (The warmth from the rice will make the nori easier to roll up)
Place a decent amount of your sliced up veggies in a neat row towards the middle of the nori on top of the rice. As tightly as possible without ripping the nori, roll it up as best as you can. Feel free to use a dap of water to seal the edges of the roll. Then using a sharp knife, cut roll into bite sized pieces. You could probably get 4 out of one roll.
Even though i said place veggies in the roll, don't forget the miso! (Miso adds a mild salty taste to it) And feel free to dip these in soy sauce if you'd like. I dipped mine in a mixture of Sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and green onion.
Yum! I make these all the time! My whole family looks forward to maki rolls!
