Hello,I'm a vegan.and a practicing Catholic.I have a question to throw out there for comments.  What if??? When Jesus said to Peter take care of my sheep,Take care of my lambs... He meant it literally, take care of all of God's creatures!!

Comment by Gerett Treas on March 18, 2013 at 7:46am

People don't understand what Jesus said when he said it. He told his disciples that himself. Jesus calls himself the true vine, the bread of life, the Word, the lamb of God, living water, he returns as the lion of the tribe of Judah the root of David, he told the crowd if they did not eat his flesh and drink his blood they would not enter the kingdom of God, he is called a chief cornerstone and we are living stones, I mean the symbolism is endless. The parables are more than what Jesus identifies as being parables. In the words of the Master: "How is it you don't understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." Matthew 16:11.

No, I am a practicing Catholic. I know and understand about what symblism is represented in the Bible. I also understand about the people thinking he meant cannabilism when he spoke of bread of life.  I don't believe that Jesus wanted us to eat animals. I believe he speaks it loud and clear. Parables and symbolism are different. What if he meant for us to take care of all of the creatures we have dominion over??? Not a big symbolic stretch!!
