Get your kids food savvy as soon as they can hold a wooden spoon.
Let them measure rice. Hold your hands behind your back and let them spread almond butter and spoon jam for their own lunch. Give them a ball of dough to work on their own pizza. Involve our future leaders in compassionate eating and food handling.
I make these delicious treats with my guys. Allowing them to measure, count and pour the ingredients and grease the try. I handle all of the hot stuff!!!
In large bowl measure out about:
7 c. Puffed Wheat
In a sauce pan, bring to a simmer stirring constantly:
1/2 c. Brown Rice Syrup
1 c. Sucanat
3 Tbsp. Cocoa
Remove from heat and add:
1Tsp. Vanilla
1/2 – 1 c. Peanut Butter
Mix until combined. Pour mixture over the puffed wheat and stir like your life depended on it before it cools. Scoop onto a greased tray and press down. At this point I’ve eaten a lot of it. But it is nice to chill and eat some later… maybe even share it?
