I am an honest, intellectual and outdoors man, who loves creativity in all forms. I dig foreign films, foreign languages and international food. Needless to say, I love exploring in-state, inter-state and internationally. I devour The Economist, Time and The National Geographic; or listen to NPR One, BBC, TED Radio Hour, and RadioLab, to name a few. I don't drink most liquor, but enjoy wine, and if I’m in Belgium (and only in Belgium) I’ll drink local beer. To me, music is divine, whether it is Indian or western, new or old. I would rather play than watch a sports - the only one I watch regularly is my son's soccer games. On and off, I have been playing volleyball (beach and indoor) and badminton. However, I mostly find myself in the mountains or in the valleys where the streets have no names. For me, social and environmental responsibility trumps everything! Be kind and grateful for this wonderful world we have inherited so that we continue to pass its miracles and grandeur to the generations to come!
I almost completed associate degree in film making, BEFORE moving to SoCal. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pursue these pipe dreams later in life. Our family idol, Rabindranath Tagore picked up painting in his 70s, my mother is learning Indian classical music at 85; so I know, it is never too late to follow one's dreams.
I am an entrepreneur at heart and now in practice. After years of corporate slavery, now for almost two years, I am a co-founder and chief technology officer at a healthcare IT company. (Read as low wages and lots of work :-). I am blessed now that I feel rewarded at the end of every single day.
I tend to lead a healthy life style, but do allow occasional binges. I am an experimental cook, and let my intuition guide me from time to time to create my own special dishes. One cookbook I’ve followed is “1000 Vegetarian Recipes From Around The World”, and I’m yet to find a recipe that I did not like. I meditate and do yoga stretches (asanas) to remain mentally and physically fit. Occasionally, you may find me at the gym, but lately I focus less on the muscle building and more on strengthening my core. I also find time to floss and do Neti every night.
When it comes to painting, I prefer oil over watercolor - if that says something about my temperament. I like to take it easy with intense focus, keep working at it, one brush-stroke at a time, with passionate patience, unto perfection. The first coat is never the final one for me!
