I was so happy to find this site :)! Everyone has been so wonderful and supportive.
Up until around 2011, however, I was a HUGE meat eater. It was all I had ever known, growing up. The only veggies I knew were: salad, kiwis, maybe broccoli every once and a while. Focus at breakfast lunch and dinner was always meat meat meat.
My grandma had diabetes, and as she began to struggle with cancer, I heard that a raw diet can reverse diabetes, possibly even cancer. Then my mom…Continue

Fig wasps pollinate figs, and each fig will have at least one dead female fig wasp inside. The fig's enzymes break down the wasp and disintegrate it, but you're still eating dead wasps!
While research hasn't yet determined all the factors in the stress-weight gain feedback loop, there appears to be evidence that stress leads to weight gain -- just as putting on a few pounds can lead to stress.

I just want to say thanks to those of you who live outside of the US for being on this group. Not only do I get a vegetarian's perspective from around the world, I also realize how ignorant I am for having English be my only language.
If anyone wants to throw some ethnic recipes my way, feel free. I love spicy foods, and clean, refreshing foods. I'm having so much trouble finding something I want to make for dinner.

New Zealanders beware - the Mammoth brand yogurt has gelatin in it.
If you want tasty yogurt without gelatin I highly suggest the dairy collective yogurt. Yum!

I find myself perusing the internet for recipes. I get tired of pasta, veggie burgers, soup, etc, for dinner every night. Many of the recipes that I find involve mushrooms, eggplant, or beets. If I had to name three foods that I do not like, those would be them.
Am I the only one who finds it hard to find it hard to find things for dinner?
2012 - Another year to make resolutions I won't keep, go on another diet and/or exercise plan. And as always I'll fail and feel terrible about it. I am sick of this merry go round. I have been vegetarian and more recently vegan but I have not been as good about it as I'd like. I've also seen that being vegan is not always healthy. I have had enough of this merry go round. This year it is about being healthy (and vegan, of course) and hopefully building from there.
