Especistas

Almost Raw Vegan Peach Cheesecake

The weather is cooling and fall has crept in.  Usually it waits for Labor Day weekend. But not this year.  Even though it's sunny the mornings and evenings have been much cooler.  The peaches are done, I have the jars of sliced peaches, some dried and in the freezer, and then some just frozen and ready for smoothies or a quick cobbler in November. It was a tasty job. I've had peaches for dinner a couple nights this week. I'll be putting up tomatoes next, some this weekend and the rest next…

Opinions of GMO

There is obviously a lot of controversy surrounding genetically modified food. Curious as to some of your opinions! I really hadn't studied much up on it, and came across an article which mentioned it. My nutrition professor is very lovely, but it is really had to pull definite answers out of her, she doesn't seem to want to take a stand on certain things and offend people.

The article:

The Promise of Biotechnology…

Hey Vegetarian friends, I just want to say lets build a goddamm Tesla museum in the USA. I know It may be a lot to ask of some of you but it would really mean a lot to me that you at least hear me out. veg or not

I have been a vegetarian for a year as most of you know, and  at this point I am having some issues that I need advice about. My husband just lost his job, we went the unemplorment office, then Social Services to get food stamps, have not heard from anyone yet.

While we are waiting the food is running out. Our daughter and  her boyfriend gave bought us some food, which is mostly meat. There are some beans as well. My husband told me that I may have to go back to…

Vegan remedies for migraines?

I've always had pretty severe migraines; I've had a lot less since becoming vegan, but they'll still come, and if I don't take medication, then sometimes I am incapacitated by them and can't even get out of bed. Does anyone else suffer from migraines? What do you use? Would prefer to not take medication at all.

When Do We Let Go of Our Ethics?

We stress so much importance that human beings are not superior to animals, it shocks me some people would suggest that animal right's tower above the rights of people. That in sending a message, we should ignore the methods of which we go about them, and take no responsibility, and guffaw about the rights of fellow human's like it's a big joke and we're all in grade school.

A vegetarian I follow recently posted this:

"What if all women were bigger and stronger than…

Cardamom Vanilla Bean Cake with Sumac Lemonade and Cashew Coconut Orange Glaze - Vegan & Gluten Free

I went to a fun wedding  this last Saturday.  My youngest son's best buddy got married.  We've known Ben since he was a little guy in second grade, so it was a family wedding for us. I felt like the honorary mother of the groom.  It was a lovely day for an outdoor wedding and the grounds…

Bhagavad Gita Quotes on Food

As many people are aware, a vegetarian diet is healthy. But it would be a mistake to think that the health benefits of a vegetarian diet have only been recently discovered. There are certainly many modern medical and scientific reports that show so clearly the links between meat-centered diets and such implacable killers as cancer and heart disease. It’s valuable research, and well worth studying. But long, long ago, the Bhagavad-gita identified meat, fish, and eggs as foods harmful to bodily… Continue

The Argument "But We're Omnivores, We're Supposed To Eat Meat"

I'm not sure if everybody has heard this argument, but a reason that people choose to not be vegetarians/vegans is because they say that our bodies are meant to digest meat. Now I'm a biology major and agree with this concept. That being said, I don't agree with how animals are treated and slaughtered which is my main argument against this. What does everyone else think?

Hardships of being Vegan

Just thought I'd post an update. It's been hard making the transition this year... not for lack of recipes, or for even cravings; that was the easiest part. Never felt more right to give up meat and dairy. The hardest part, for me personally, was the controversy it caused with my family and friends.

The second you tell someone you're a vegan, they become an expert on nutrition. I've been told I'd die, that I'd become frail and weak from my lack of protein, even been accused of loving…

A nice vegan gift.

So this is my first blog post and I wanted to share something that happened to me. As some of you may know, I am heading off to Western Carolina University in a matter of days. This woman that is one of my aunts clients sent me a trash bag with a box in it. Inside it was a mountain of vegan food. This woman has already given me generous graduation gifts so it blew me away to begin with that she sent me something else. This woman is not vegan and only knows me through my aunt. She called my…
