When someone is over-critical it usually stems from a lack of self belief the person does not like what they see in themselves, so their attention is turned towards the inadequacies of others. They seek to belittle another, to make themselves feel better yet this just perpetuates the problem. It makes the person, even more loathsome towards anything that is not seen to be perfect.
First we must understand that no one is perfect, everyone is learning how to live in the best way they feel possible. If they knew better they would surely act better. If a way of being brought them success, they would change for the better.
Humility is the key to change,we must always look for the good in someone first, seek to find the good before you even consider the bad.I try to fine at least three good things about everyone I meet. Before you turn your attention on their failings, and even if you do find fault, you should always look at yourself and your own reasoning behind this.More than likely,if we find fault with others too easily,it says something about about ourselves,it speaks about the lessons we still have to learn...
Often people feel that others are an extension of themselves, and if they are a perfectionist, they find it difficult to accept that others have trouble dealing with situations that they find easy. You must remember that each person has had a different set of teachers, friends and family, have all made a difference on a person.Sometimes they have been taught well, sometimes badly. It is not for us to force change on a person, our job is to understand them and help them. They need love, they do not need to be berated,or scolded with impatience...
Be humble,be genuine and you will find how easy it is to change hearts.
