I know how hard it is to find restaurants that have vegetarian options here where I live, not even mentioning vegan. I also feel like I am in my own one person group the majority of the time. Living in rural areas are hard I think. So, I was wondering how other people deal with that. Also, where do any of you all get your food? I'm asking because no stores close to me have specifically vegan products, besides tofu and one brand of sliced cheese.

When I first went vegetarian, I was living in rural NJ and I know exactly how you feel. "Fries and salad" was my order of choice at any food establishment. I assume by "vegan products" you mean fake meats, cheeses, desserts, etc? When I first went veggie, I lived off the fake stuff for a bit to get my feet wet. Fortunately, a few grocery stores sold Morning Star products around me. I don't know what stores you have around you, but companies like Shoprite, Wegmans, Stop&Shop around NJ sold them.

I moved to NYC a year and a half ago, which is when I went vegan. I stepped off the fake meats mostly and started to eat more raw foods along with rices/pastas. I think thats your best bet(as pastas, rices and produce are sold everywhere pretty much haha) Now, NYC is the place to be as a vegan/vegetarian. Two of the top stores here, Trader Joe's and WholeFoods sell every vegan alternative you can think of, as well as vegan restaurants(which are fantastic)

But like I said, since finding those products are tough for you, my main suggestion would be either bringing it up to the markets you shop at(they could look into the products are start selling them) or primarily base your diet off vegetables, nuts, rices, pastas, breads, etc. You're better off that way anyways, you don't want too much processed stuff, vegan or not.

All the luck though!

It is too hard to find vegan meals in our country too. I always eat salads and vegetable soup when I go out for dinner with my friends. Nothing else. Few vegetarians, a lot of meateaters and no vegan menu in restaurants.
