I can't help but go off about this- what the HELL is wrong with these people?????
TOURISTS AT CHINESE ICE FESTIVAL SHOOT ARROWS AT LIVE CHICKENS JANUARY 18th 2013
Festival organizers have caused controversy in northern China by offering visitors the chance to shoot live chickens with bows and arrows. Bystanders watched as the helpless birds were strung up by their feet in front of an ice wall at the Jilin Ice Festival in Yanji, while tourists took pot shots at them. Please note that these poor chickens are not dead immediately, it depends on the person who shoots.. you can imagine the suffering of those poor things! You can see here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML-WcLij2Es&feature=youtu.be -that the chickens are still alive when they fall to the ground, then they die slowly. Some were left wounded and in agony when the amateur archers failed to kill them. But organizers have defended the event saying: "The game was very popular and people enjoyed it." PEOPLE ENJOYED IT? How can any decent person enjoy this? Monsters. That's the only people who could enjoy this.
Oh and get this- here is how they justify it "We plan to do it again next year and the birds were not wasted, they were all eaten afterwards. The birds were all farm animals and would have died anyway. Why does it matter if it was an arrow or an axe?"
WTF? I'm disgusted. ashamed and disgusted. China should be horrified and disgusted at themselves for allowing this. Are you that bored China? Here's an idea- go buy a fucking card game or take up a hobby that doesn't involve causing innocent animals insurmountable pain!

Comment by Lauren Woods on January 25, 2013 at 6:18am There are so many things I love about China... but their animal policies, and the general malciousness toward animals, really gets me... this is completely disgusting. On Tumblr there was these posts of this Chinese zoo where tourists were throwing snow balls, bottles, cans, rocks at these tigers who were in the exhibit with nowhere to hide. They have tiger parks where you can lower a chicken in with a rope and watch the tiger maul it to death. Also recently, there were massive street demonstrations of people blugeoning Akita Inu's to death because they are the national dog of Japan. These people are not persecuted, no charges are filed... It breaks my heart.

Comment by Ciarra Dawn on January 25, 2013 at 6:21am OH my gosh, Thats horrible Lauren. I dont understand WHY those things are allowed, let alone accepted. China must be Hell for the animals :(
Comment by Ryan Ting on January 25, 2013 at 8:00pm China is a paradise for carnivore. Chinese eat anything that has protein. Dogs, snakes, turtles, lizards, exotic endangered animals, insects. China is also the biggest consumer of rhino horns, tiger parts, and shark fins.
Comment by Ciarra Dawn on January 25, 2013 at 11:48pm Yes, I've heard these things Ryan, and it's horrifying- I could never live in a place that allowed such things to happen.
