From Meat Eater to Vegetarian Back to Meat Eater

I know a couple people that used to be vegetarians, and before they were meat eaters and they went back to being a meat eater.  They said they just could not do it anymore.  Im curious, does anyone know someone like that?  To me, I can't see how you can switch like that so many times unless you just want to try it out.  Because if you truly believe in something you won't just quit like that.  Sure, I admit there are some things I miss.  But I remind myself why I am not eating it.

I always say people who do that were never vegetarians to begin with. They are just someone who didn't eat meat for awhile. Being a vegetarian/vegan is much more than a diet, it's a complete lifestyle, and I think people underestimate that when they decide to go veg. You don't 'try' veg- it's not like a free sample, it's something that takes dedication and has to have a meaning to you, or else it will never work.

Yes, I agree.  In fact they called me traitor for switching to vegetarian.  WOW!  Can you say hypocrite?

Personally I don't understand how someone can stop caring, maybe it's because they didn't care enough in the first place? If you're a veg for ethical reasons and know the truths that the majority of us know- I don't know how you could go back on that. Go back to contributing to the cruelty and horrors. I cannot fathom that.

I think it all comes down to the reasons why you decide to go veg, and how much that means to you.

It means way too much to me to even entertain the idea of eating that putrid filth again. Whatever 'changes' happen, I don't think any of them could make me flip back to being a meat eater.

Alas, everyone is different I suppose.

I can't trust people like that.  Most people have the excuse of ignorance. Okay that's fine- then education is key. But when someone is AWARE of what happens, that they once viewed it as murder, and as a horrible act- to suddenly shrug and say, "But inconvenient bro"... yeah... would never turn my back on someone who can so flippantly toss their morals aside.

My thoughts exactly Lauren.  I kind of want to make them watch Food, Inc.  Maybe that will re-change their mind.  Maybe they have to keep seeing it to understand why they went vegetarian in the first place.

That would be a good idea. Those images and thoughts stay with you forever.

Yeah, every time i think of meat if it near me, I just picture what I saw and why I gave it up, and then Im like, "Yeah, no thanks."

Haha same here! Completely! Images are seared onto my mind, they can literally turn your stomach.

Yeah they can, but its important to educate others about what goes on.
