What if I told you that just by eating a banana every morning you could lose 10 pounds within a week, sounds too good to be true right? The best part is that it does not require any special effort or any significant changes in your dietary habits.
The diet was created by Hitoshi Watanabe and his wife; it has gained popularity in people who do not enjoy sweating it out at the gym. Overweight people are advised to work out as the only way to burn significant calories. But, Watanabe recommended a simple solution: eating a fresh banana and drinking a glass of water in the morning, and not eating anything else until lunch.
The idea is that bananas are loaded with resistant starch that actively stimulates the weight loss process. It is important to remember that not all starch is created equal, starch is divided into digestible and resistant starch. Bacteria turns resistant starch into short-chain fatty acids that feed cells and contribute to a healthier digestive tract.
So what are the rules?
Eat a banana for breakfast! You can eat more than one if you wish, but do not stuff yourself to the point of fullness or discomfort. Make sure they are only raw. Other fruit can be substituted, but only one type of fruit per meal.
Eat normally for lunch and dinner, but dinner must be eaten by 8 p.m at the latest. It is recommended to cut the amount of rice you eat and find healthier substitutions for fried foods.
No Desert at any meal.
Eat mindfully, remember to chew your food thoroughly and be mindful of its taste.
You are allowed an afternoon snack, aim for around 3 p.m. Do not deny yourself.
Go to bed early.
Drink a glass of lukewarm water upon waking.
There are no really strict rules, have your bananas and water. Do not overeat, the Japanese have the 80/20 rule because they believe that people should never overload their stomach with food.
It is recommended not to drink milk or alcohol on this diet.
If you follow this diet, you should see great results!
