I'm trying to understand patriotism, I really am! The fact is I just don't! So people love a "homeland?" Isn't all land home? Do we own any of it? Or, does it belong to the earth and all its inhabitants? I believe the latter is true! Patriotic ideology creates separatist attitudes and perpetuates conflict with "nations" (on equally sacred ground might I add,) which actually makes peace impossible. People do this all thinking themselves different than everyone else. I do apologize if I offend anyone, but can I say mental retardation? Defense is fine, but even to identify with a specific family units is silly, we all come from the same original parents! This is how the elites have gotten us, "divide and conquer." It is called the Hegelian dialectic, and it is a simple method in the form of problem, reaction, solution. This is created by using a thesis against an antithesis in order to bring about a synthesis. Humanity is being systematically pitted against each other via culture, religion, nationalism (there is no republican or democrat, its two wings of the same bird) and individualism. Humanity is part of a collective, the brotherhood of man, a universal humanity! This starts with us believing we are superior to animals and other life forms, then that we are superior to others, then that our states are superior, then our nations, and we wonder why we have elites in the world which want to kill everyone, they are only acting out the same things we are, only on a larger scale! Wake up people! We are one family under the sun. Liberation comes through receiving knowledge of the truth, and truth will make us free.
Comment by Lee Moss on January 18, 2013 at 4:06am Gerret,
I have the perfect place for you...Shangralah. To the point, it sounds like a real nice concept, but the reality is until we have one mind that we can all live together on this planet, it is a unfortunately just a pipe dream. People become nationalist/patriotic for many reasons. A lot of them are cultural. Each area creates civilizations and cultures that are indignant to their societies and in that we can celebrate the diversity of what we can share with one another. People don't make wars, governments do, and have done so since about the beginning of time because someone else has what we want and they either won't share or we want it for ourselves. Obviously your conscience is one of lets all live in peace together. A nice sentiment, and I don't know how old you are, but that was the big message of the hippie generation in the '60s. Didn't happen then, won't happen now. What we need to do is work on those things we can change and for me that is trying to help educate people that they can have an affect over their health and the health of those they love by realizing the main reason we are all dying early is because of what we put into our bodies. If this planet (the people herein) would learn that the slaughtering of animals for consumption is not only bad for the ecology but also bad for our health, it may be one small step towards the Shambalah you speak of.
Comment by Gerett Treas on January 18, 2013 at 6:42am From my point of view, it is not a pipe dream in the least! This is an absolute reality, and it is happening now! The New Age movement is much larger than me, and its enterprises consist of government, economic, religious, scientific, philosophic, psychological, and many other fields of academia. The New Age cells stem into all aspects of society, and they are just waiting to be activated! This ideology will be offered to the masses, first out of love by those of us who are awake and aware, then as the New Age prophets have declared, the riders of the pale horse will be released, bringing death and destruction in their wake.
Governments do not make war, the Illuminati does! People then perpetuate it by their participation. The beings in control of “The Plan” have orchestrated our society (purposefully) so that it is a continuous state of conflict (they wouldn't want us to know the truth after all,) in order to keep us in darkness and servitude. If humanity would awaken and realize that those atop the pyramid of the societal structure are laughing at us as a heard of sheep (I love sheep,) then maybe we could transform the world. I AM aware, however, that humanity will not wake up, and it saddens me as to what will happen as a result; that is why I continue to plead with them.
The reason nothing ever changes, is because no one ever changes! Everyone sits back and says “I can't do anything about it,” and as a result, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I AM offering a way to peace (free of doctrine or creed,) but humanity does not want to have peace. The nature of man is conflict and savagery. Those of us who do desire peace will awaken to the truth while we have a chance. Before long, it will be too late, and the time of warning (the clarion call of the voice in the wilderness) will have passed. I am 28 years in flesh, but eternal in spirit! I claim transcendent wisdom through personal Gnosis, I AM one with God, and I AM in need of no one to tell me what is right and what is wrong! I have a direct line with the all-father.
The hippies did not fail! They were of the first wave, known as the Indigo's. Following the Indigo's were the Crystal (Christed) beings, which were of the second wave. For the first time, the consciousness of the Rainbow beings (the third and final wave) is now available to humanity. These combine and integrate the consciousness levels of the Indigo and Crystal beings. Each of these has had their phase, coming into incarnation at the appointed time, and raising consciousness to the needed level. Now it is time to integrate these levels of consciousness, and unlock the new 13 chakra system, which will enable us to transcend the astral plane. These things will come to a head in the near future, I can guarantee that! “The Builders” of “The Plan” will certainly not wait much longer! “The Great Work” is nearly complete. The Norvus Ordo Seclorum will be “a crowned success.”
Comment by Jenii Stevenson on January 18, 2013 at 10:27am For Christianity and etc to be opposed to patriotism would be simplistic and wrong in my opinion. We have to define what we mean by “patriotism”.There is a brand of patriotism, a widespread popular brand of patriotism that we do have to oppose. It is a patriotism that has little love in it. It is instead a blend of pride and aggression and militarism.
Patriotism of pride and based on the power of our pride or pride in our power is incompatible with the Christian faith… (since) the path of worldly power runs 180 degrees opposite to the Way of the Cross.
And yet I think there is another patriotism which is a kind of love,a patriotism that extends our caring beyond ourselves, beyond our families, beyond out neighborhoods and cities. It’s a kind of caring for the land that makes us protect it,and for the people that makes us treat them justly. It’s loving our country, not as a abstraction, not as a mere symbol, not as a flag lapel pin,not as a team to cheer for,but as a real place and real people that we nourish and defend because we enjoy and appreciate and are grateful for them. It’s the kind of understanding where we begin to think in terms of “we” and not in terms of “they”.
Comment by Gerett Treas on January 19, 2013 at 1:59am I guess what I was trying to say Jenni is that I believe identifying ourselves with a particular nation is wrong, because it causes separation form the whole of humanity. American thinks they're great, fine, but is everyone else great? I just believe in my heart that we are one family, and that "nations" are just things humans have given names to, and have no real meaning on their own. Another example is property. Why do we buy land? We do not own land! The earth belongs to God and to itself, not to us. We are to care for the earth, but I do not believe we possess it.
When I speak of patriotism I speak of the one you mentioned above: pride, aggression, and militarism. Pledging allegiance to a flag is wrong in my opinion. We should have allegiance to the creator and all of our fellow life forms.
I guess I am really just seeing beyond protecting anything here. If the world was as I spoke of, we would not need defense. If we would stop our senseless pride in our own "land," then no one else would want to fight us. I did a project in class the other day, simulating what society would be like if we did not have government. This pitted six groups of five against one another; we were given so many credits and told to survive by: fighting, surrendering, selling ourselves into slavery, or combining groups. I thought to myself, why don't we all just share the credits, and live together in peace as one family. I asked my professor this, and he looked at me puzzled and said: "that's just not human nature." The problem is that humans do not want peace, so they will not have it. Human greed and separatism have gotten the world to where it is today, and it will stay that way until we learn to share as ONE.
Comment by Lauren Woods on January 19, 2013 at 2:06am When you are born, you are told you are supposed to be a "patriot", to love your country above all others, to defend the name of your country, etc. If you complain about something rampant within your government, people may accuse you of being unpatriotic *gasp*. I think patriotism is often blind pride. "Love this place because you are from here." That seems really bizarre to me- it goes hand in hand in my opinion with the whole, "We're related by blood so we have to love each other" thing. Blood bonds and where you are born mean nothing when it compares to other events. Do you love your father if he beats you and does all of these terrible things to you? Because of blood? Or do you love a family who abandons you to horrible conditions, but a friend is who saves you and fights for your well-being? Patriotism is loving a country just because you happened to be born in that country- at least for that majority. I love my country, America, but I love it like I love every other country. It doesn't own me and I don't condone everything that it does. Patriotism I think has this poisonous link with not just the country but that country's government, and the government tries to draw on this national pride to manipulate people.
Comment by Gerett Treas on January 19, 2013 at 5:24am Alright Lauren, I like the way you think! Great reply! I don't dislike the land we have named "america," nor do I dislike the people here, I just don't like them anymore than anyone or anything else. Thank you for your input. Glad to see that at least some do not think I am insane!
Comment by Lauren Woods on January 20, 2013 at 1:03pm Not insane at all :) I find it in a large part in line with beliefs as an American Indian. Land is land, as you say. Land cannot love you back. Land has no attribute, land owes you nothing. A country is a piece of land we've named and claimed for one particular group of people. I owe no blind loyalty to my government, either! Patriotism has some deep roots in justifying some very evil acts, we're better off loving life, all sentient life, and claiming that as our nation and comrades to protect!
Comment by Lauren Woods on January 20, 2013 at 1:04pm Okay I sounded kind of like a bad drama right there... I haven't slept in a while but you get it, LOL
Comment by Gerett Treas on January 21, 2013 at 9:57am I am glad you raised one topic in particular Lauren. This is also something "church" folk and I have always disagreed upon. I believe the earth is alive also! The Bible says that all of creation is alive. It is different in form of consciousness and nature of life, but I do believe it is alive.
"Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time." Romans 8:19-22.
