Hello guys!

I'm actually working hard to lose weight right now. I'm swimming a lot and I'm running sometimes. After that, i'm alway hungry to death but i don't wanna eat to gain again what i lost. Do you have any healthy and light snacks to recommend?

You can find something that is rich in protein and fiber such as fruit smoothie, apple with almonds, or celery with peanut butter. Anything that works that is! Personally I am happy enough with some almonds and water.

Hey Catherine, you're welcome! Almonds ARE nice. They are loaded with potassium, protein, fiber and calcium (200 mg potassium, 3.5g of fiber, 6g of protein which is about 12% of daily protein requirement for 2000 kcal diet, 7% of daily recommended calcium per 1oz serving). Just be sure to get the portions right as they are quite calorie dense! Almonds are good as part of daily diet but moderation is key.

By the way, 1oz almonds equals to approximately 23 almonds. That's a lot.:D

yeah it is. i'm always thinking that nuts is not good because it,s fat :/ but you show me that it's really healthy with moderation :)

Raw sunflower kernels, raw pumpkin seeds are very tasty and addictive, and provide lot of goodness for athletes. The roasted ones contain unhealthy fats that will make you grow fat.

It is not the problem of snacks but your daily major carbohydrate intake to make you become fat. But if you take less bread, potatoes, rice, cornflakes etc, you'll turn hungry very quickly, especially after exercise.

Just to avoid refined carbohydrate like white bread, white rice, anything that contains white sugar. But we need carbohydrate to fill the stomach for longer period of time. So replace them with wholemeal bread, brown rice, coated oat, rough oat meal...

You can even take more food than usual without growing fat. The secret is one table spoon of apple vinegar after each heavy meal. Bragg is the most trusted and common brand. Sip it like cocktail and you'll enjoy it once you get used to it. Remember never brush your teeth or wash you mouth within an hour after drinking vinegar or it'll destroy your teeth.

In my humble opinion, what makes one fat is too much unhealthy fats, too much refined carbs, too much sodium and other artificial additives. The key is to eat as much whole foods as possible. If the calorie intake is lower than calorie consumed, one will lose weight and vice versa. Just be sure to get your calories through healthy food! e.g. 2000 calories made of 3 meals and 2 healthy snacks is more fulfilling than 2000 calories of fast food, which may be a meager 2 meals.
