Connect with vegetarian and vegan friends from all over the world.
I try very hard on a daily basis to not ridicule others about their choice to eat meat. However- it is when I am confronted with statements like the following that I cannot tolerate the ignorance, disconnect, and lack of empathy of my fellow humans:
"They(animals) don't feel pain. Their brains are too small to process the feeling. Also, since pain is a key component of suffering, it follows that they are not suffering if they do not feel pain."-
"Me personally, I will stop eating meat and go vegan when meat stops tasting so damn good and veggies stop tasting like dirt. I don't care what conditions it takes to put a steak and eggs breakfast in front of me; I have more important things on my mind during the day than to consider the conditions the cow was subjected to before it was slaughtered to feed me and my family."
"I have morals like no man should ever hit a lady, no human should kill another human or steal from them, but a moral saying i shouldn't eat meat is just dumb a cow is just a cow I'm going to kill it butcher it cook it and eat it and love it."
" Sorry, I'd rather be an oppressor(of animals), I like being on the winning side."
-Such statements are not only an insult to me- but an insult to the animals and a complete disregard of their life. If you ever find yourself wondering why vegans seem so angry, frustrated, or 'extreme' -it's because we deal with such apathetic, ignorant remarks on a daily basis. Everyone has a tolerance level- and people like this exceed mine by far.
